Welcome to my blog

With the closure of the Irish Shooters Digest it now seems I'm a blogger. It rhymes with "flogger", and "slogger" which is approriate since I am slogging on from where I left off as the rifle and pistol shooting contributor with the Irish Shooters Digest where many thought I deserved to be "flogged" for criticising their pet political parties' or the police for their handling of shooting matters. My final article has appeared in the 2017 Christmas edition.

Initially I opposed the idea of going a-blogging. I was happy and fulfilled in my retirement but then found I missed sharing with my ISD Readers whatever mini-projects I found myself involved in. This week it was making expanding cast hunting bullets. It's an esoteric and narrow field of activity with few adherents. A case of a bravely slogging blogger flogging a dead horse perhaps?  So I'm back with no editor to guide me (my friend Eric Parkes of the ISD has retired) and an expanded repertoire of shooting interests including some that never made it into print because Eric wisely perceived no-one was interested. This may still be the case but doesn't matter now because I can blog happily away in the wilderness completely free of the need to help Eric sell either advertising or copy.
